Me, Myself and My Desktop |
Over the weekend my Sys Admin changed my machine. He gave me a 64 bit, dual 1.5 Ghz Opteron processor, 1 Gig RAM and the works. My new CPU is gargantuan and is almost double the size of my previous CPU. You could say that it is like a mini server. I also had Cent OS installed. For the ignorant masses Cent OS is basically a free version of the Linux Distribution.
But I was not happy when I logged in today morning. Why? Well, all my configurations and desktop settings were messed up. My preferred window manager (Enlightenment) was not installed. Some of my applications are not running and my Sys Admin is missing from action. That is when I realised how much I am accustomed to the settings on my desktop. How without my preferred settings I dont feel at home and feel as if some important part of me is missing. It is already mid afternoon and I am still trying to get things the way I like them to be. Hopefully by the end of the day I can get everything back to the way it was when I left on Friday. |
